This reminds me of Somoza or Pinochet: quote: Slobodan Milosevic, the former Serbian dictator who died in March, left land and property worth tens of millions of pounds, but no heirs have come forward to claim it, according to lawyers administering his estate.
and quote: One such property is a sprawling villa in Belgrade's fashionable Dedinje district - on the same road, Uzicka Street, as the official residence where the former dictator was arrested in March 2001 after a shoot-out between police officers and his bodyguards.Milosevic paid £11,000 for the villa which is worth an estimated £1 million and has become the focus of public anger over the extent of the estate. His disputed assets also include about two and a half acres of development land in the capital, while further properties in Pozarevac were transferred to his son's name just before his arrest.
Somoza used to acquire real estate in Nicaragua very cheaply. Basically, he'd make you an offer....say $11,000.00 for a property worth $ 1 million, and amazingly, everyone would sell! He was just such a persuasive fellah. millions for milosevic

The Tsars had the choice of over 30 summer and winter palaces to entertain their inbred relatives and be waited on hand and foot in grand opulence while the peasants starved. King Zog of Albania enjoyed 21 palacial homes and liked to dress in combat fatigues when playing with his war pieces. The Nazi-sympathizing Zog's relatives are waiting in the wings to get back on the throne in that country. God help them. If anyone wants to view imperial treasures of the Peking Palace, they'll have to travel to Taiwan. Chiang Kai Chek's stolen money from the Bank of China was used to fund the world anti-communist league, the contras, various terrorist groups and dozens of anti-democratic factions around the world. U.S. banks helped Pinochet hide millions of dollars. U.S. banks welcomed the Marcos' and Shah of Iran and billions of dollars stolen from those countries. And Forbes is trying to claim Fidel is worth hundreds of millions of dollars without producing a shred of evidence. Meanwhile, the superrich in the west have learned not to display their wealth publicly since the revolutions. Their enormous wealth is unprecedented right now. ehh, I think Slobodan enjoyed a few privileges. [ 20 August 2006: Message edited by: Fidel ]

Oh yes, some of those rich people maintain homes in Canada. Bridle Path is actually a modest display of wealth in comparison with what's behind the curtain. They don't mind us working class slobs seeing that much. Meanwhile, the superrichest creme de la creme have dozens of homes just like those ones tucked away in drawbridge communities, the Riviera and private islands all over the world. Some have their own private armies as existed in medieval times. The superrich in Europe have at least attempted to explain their wealth in that they are needed to invest money accumulated from working class people wisely. They are the "investor class." The largest concentration of billionaires is in the U.S. where they tend to shy away from the spotlight while their friends in the Republican party wage war on the working poor on up to middle class earning around $400K a year. Their two main goals are to shovel as much of the national income to the richest few as possible while maintaining an overall wealth gap between richest and poorest, which is now described as having become a chasm. This is the nature of a monetary system based on comparative wealth requiring an army of unemployed and poor class in order to maintain plutocracy with the richest few oligarchs in firm control of the system. If they're in the top ten percent of income drawers in the U.S., they likely donate money to the Republican party - the party representing the superrich. Canada also has a high concentration of oligarchs. MONEY! ,get away. Get a good job with good pay and youre okay. Money, its a gas. Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash. New car, caviar, four star daydream, Think Ill buy me a football team. Money, get back. Im all right jack keep your hands off of my stack. Money, its a hit. Dont give me that do goody good bullshit. Im in the high-fidelity first class traveling set And I think I need a lear jet. Money, its a crime. Share it fairly but dont take a slice of my pie. Money, so they say Is the root of all evil today. But if you ask for a raise its no surprise that theyre giving none away [ 21 August 2006: Message edited by: Fidel ]
