"NAFTA and other free trade agreements, touted as a means for the world’s poor to lift themselves from poverty, have had the opposite effect, according to a recent study by Washington’s Economic Policy Institute. EPI found that the income of the world’s 400 million poorest people, which was 79 cents a day in 1990, decreased to 78 cents a day in 1999."http://www.pww.org/article/articleview/174/1/23/ makes afl-cio politics a little closer to irrelevant, without a serious change. the challenge is to inform and guide a strong direction for ethics, work and social responsibility. we have at our hand all the tools and will we need. we lack organization. we can change the world, if we will.
