This is old news - I just ran across it during a completely unrelated search for something else.Unfuckingbelievable! quote: Women having babies would be asked to pay for epidurals under a proposal from the Royal College of Midwives. Its education and research committee says too many have the pain-relieving injection, given to a fifth of pregnant women. Critics said the proposal, to be debated at the RCM conference, would discriminate against poor women.
Who the hell do they think they are, anyhow? This pisses me off so much. My response to them? Keep your fucking ideology off of my body, you moralistic freaks.

Incredible! I will (thankfully) never understand the pain connected with childbirth. But as a father, I have seen, in the delivery room, the difference an epidural can make. What I hate about this BBC report is the unasked questions by the media, such as: "I'll bet midwives aren't allowed to prescribe or administer epidurals, right Ms. Spokeperson?" "If epidurals were indeed user-pay as you suggest, could this help remove one of the reasons for women not to use midwives? More business for you folks, perhaps?" Now, I don't know the answers to these questions, but I sure would have liked to hear them asked.
