Thank you, Wilf. How did that thread get hidden? I suppose the opening poster did it? Pretty odd thing to do.

Looks like the title was pulled, which makes it more difficult to get into, as the design of this board is to link from titles.

Stormwind, if anything I said made you feel unwelcome, I apologize if my strongly worded response is the reason you've deleted the post and the title. I wanted to provide my initial response and opinion to the thread you started, which is what we do here. I now realize that it was a bit over the top to respond to your first post on babble that way, and I am truly sorry about that.

I think it's important to say now that what I neglected to say in my initial response was the crime that you posted about was horrible, and that the man who committed the crime should be punished , as inadequate as that is to the victim of the crime it's all we've got. My heart goes out to the woman that he raped, abused and terrorized. And my feminist radar goes up, since crimes like this, crimes of violence against women, are generally only publicized for very particular political reasons. Something like this that happened on the other side of the world would only reach the international news for a few reasons, and the "mental illness" link was what I saw, or perhaps the media outlets picked up on the "incompetant police" angle as well. Either way is a flag to me, one for the continued demonizing of people who suffer from "mental illness" and the other is a nod to the "law and order" crowd.

Perhaps if I'd been clearer that I have absolutely no sympathy for the man in your OP it may have added context to my arguments. I regret that.

If you're still around and reading this, I sincerely hope that you are able to return, and to continue the conversation.
