Taiwan is thought to have a lengthy history of political corruption.
One reason I think the people of Taiwan is so supportive of Chen Shui-Bien is because we never had a national hero who wasn't corrupted and who is thought to be "morally" worthy of being worshipped. A politician who isn’t actually rich and who paid people off for votes, as they say. But, recently he is accused of taking on the corruption of the ex-ruling party and worsening the situation. Misuse of the “air force one” is one issue, while control of the stock market is another. Profuse amounts of billions of donations are said to have been transferred into the bank accounts of the president’s daughter, while the president’s wife have bought 3 or 4 pieces of jewelries, calculated to worth millions. I am personally against the DPP party of Chen Shiu-Bien, and this is my point of view, I would like to know what others feel about political corruption.
