Its gratifying and interesting to see so many women getting off the planes of fire fighters being flown in from across the country - you go girl!
Now thats one hot, dirty, stinking, dangerous, physical job. As a disabled female I admire their physical abilities to do the job and their determination and courage to fight side by side on the fire line with their male co-workers.
And some people think women aren't "fit" for combat duty - this IS combat!

I've been thinking about this woman I used to know who trained to be a volunteer/emergency bush fire-fighter a couple years ago. Just after she got back from climbing to the first base camp on Everest. She's also a teacher. Just plain awesome.
I really hope they're making some headway and having some success. Those fires are all very scary to me. I've driven through the Crowsnest Pass a couple times a year for most of my life, because it's on the way to my Granny's place. I love all the little towns there, and I'm really thinking about all the people being affected by the fires. Yikes.
Good thing they've got all those awesome women and men working on it.
