I have tried to find some mention of this story elsewhere but cannot. This makes me a bit suspiscious. Is there any other verification of this story any place else?

Try Google. I have found at least 20 sites carying the story. Unless of course, you put absolutely no trust in anything coming from Palestinians or progressive Israel Jews?
