Mental health issues don't seem like much of a barrier to getting a handgun in Cincinatti. When are our American neighbours going to wake up from their gun-loving madness?

Are you saying that people suffering from mental health issues are dangerous?

Wouldn't that depend on what the mental health issues were?
Surely it is not so politically incorrect to observe that state of mind has a bearing on management of a weapon? There are many mental health issues that would have no such bearing just as there are many physical issues that would have no bearing on your ability to walk- but there are some that would. Likewise there are some mental issues which ought to require for the person's own safety and that of others limitation on access to weapons.
Of course, I am a believer that no private citizen living in a major city should have guns at home. They can be secured at a firing range.

Are you suggesting that Colt and Beretta don't own the free market right to sell handguns to everybody and everyone who wants one ?. How unAmerican of you.

Beretta! Easy to acquire - Easy to Fire - Hard to Beat

I'm pointing out that there is a stereotype in our society that the mentally ill are dangerous. It couldn't be farther from the truth. For a progressive forum there are still some amazingly out of date prejudices being expressed.

I agree with one of the earlier comments that no one should be allowed to purchase a gun.

Just to point out what should be obvious. Nothing in the article states when she purchased the gun. She could have easily made the purchase years before her mental health issues appeared.

So Fidel, are you going to contribute to this dicussion?

Sorry, I was just trying to point out the total hypocrisy in that country where the mentally incapacitated are able to buy handguns like fast food and then be executed by the state for shooting someone to death. And that's because they have to kill people to prove that killing is wrong.
