Finland is a unique hybrid.Led by a female social democrat. They are a mix of capitalism, socialism, pragmatism, high educational standards, innovation and the welfare state. The top CEO's there are rich, but not as insanely/exorbitantly rich as American CEO's.The poor are not catastrophically poor as the American poor are.Finland, Norway and many many other countries in Europe, Scandinavia, Nordic region can find a balance... so we can't we North Americans do the same ? Rabid ideologies often prevent us from being reasonable and scientific on the matters of politics.Finland's gov't takes the Capitalist engine, puts a fence around it and monitors it.Then, they measure it ALONG with society.Next, they attach various syphons, valves, filters and tubes, and watch it distribute capital for the entire populace.Poverty rates at 5% (while Detroit poverty rates hit 33% under Bushian policy).Yet Nokia manages to flourish, as the social democrats ponder LOWERING corporate tax rates to keep the welfare state efficient and sustained long-term. http://www.economist.com/countries/finland/
