quote: VANCOUVER -- A battle has broken out between two of Canada's largest unions for control of short-haul truckers who play a vital role in transporting roughly 60 per cent of the export containers that move through the docks in Vancouver. The Canadian Auto Workers union touched off the fight last fall, launching a campaign to unionize roughly 1,000 port truckers, including about 100 who were members of the more established Teamsters Canada union. Sparking allegations of raiding, the tussle is being played out as terminal operators try to recover from a 47-day strike that stalled the flow of containerized goods through the port last summer, costing the Canadian economy $400-million.

Actually the Teamsters were bounced from the CLC a long time ago and has only been brought back in during IIRC the last decade. In any case it looks like the CAW is taking the lead in organizing non-union truckers at the port...and it probably makes sense in the long run for them to all be in the same union.
