More info:

quote:
She is the author of Reconstructed Lives: Women and Iran's Islamic Revolution (1997) and a recipient of the MacArthur Foundation Grant. In 2004 she contributed to the Washington Institute for Near East Policy's Policy Watch Special Forum in an article marking the 25th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.[2] In April 2005, she contributed a piece to the Foreign Policy Magazine that is published by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace titled "Iranian Woman, Please Stand Up."[

Iran has as yet provided no evidence for its allegations.

As Jeff went three posts without actually mentioning who he was talking about, he is referring to Haleh Esfandiari, who was arrested by Iranian authorities under circumstances described here.

Her Wikpedia bio describes a pretty accomplished and respected woman. A quick google search shows the extent of international calls for her release.

So far, she has not been charged with any offence, and has not appeared in any court.

No lawyer, either.

Hopefully, she won't be murdered in custody like the Canadian journalist Zahra Kazemi was.
