Metrotown Center in Burnaby: "Outside scary. You're better off in here"

The Bay: "Shopping is good"

Is Canada brain-draining that badly in the marketing sector, or is this trend supposed to shock and blatently manipulate?

Any more examples or ideas on this?

When did YOU get back?

As for my thoughts on that propagandizing, I think the intent is to manipulate people with feelings of security and safety, coupled with the satisfaction of consumerist urges.

My talent is going to waste. Upon seeing this image:

I came up with the winning slogan:

YOU DESERVE A BEAK TODAY

And there ain't no little Mcdonald inside o' me!

"Oh Lydia, oh Lydia, say, have you met Lydia?
Lydia The Tattooed Lady.
She has eyes that folks adore so,
and a torso even more so.
Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Queen of Tattoo.
On her back is The Battle of Waterloo.
Beside it, The Wreck of the Hesperus too.
And proudly above waves the red, white, and blue.
You can learn a lot from Lydia!

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

When her robe is unfurled she will show you the
world,
if you step up and tell her where.
For a dime you can see Kankakee or Paree,
or Washington crossing The Delaware.

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

Oh Lydia, oh Lydia, say, have you met Lydia?
Lydia The Tattooed Lady.
When her muscles start relaxin',
up the hill comes Andrew Jackson.
Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Queen of them all.
For two bits she will do a mazurka in jazz,
with a view of Niagara that nobody has.
And on a clear day you can see Alcatraz.
You can learn a lot from Lydia!

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

Come along and see Buffalo Bill with his lasso.
Just a little classic by Mendel Picasso.
Here is Captain Spaulding exploring the Amazon.
Here's Godiva, but with her pajamas on.

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

Here is Grover Whelan unveilin' The Trilon.
Over on the west coast we have Treasure Isle-on.
Here's Nijinsky a-doin' the rhumba.
Here's her social security numba.

La-la-la...la-la-la.
La-la-la...la-la-la.

Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Champ of them all.
She once swept an Admiral clear off his feet.
The ships on her hips made his heart skip a beat.
And now the old boy's in command of the fleet,
for he went and married Lydia!

I said Lydia...
(He said Lydia...)
They said Lydia...
We said Lydia, la, la!"

As I feel in no small way responsible for the shambles that sherpafish's magnificent thread has become, I would like to now direct everyone's attention to that obscure pop-savant, Wesley Willis, who punctuates all his incisive, yet rather twisted tunes such as Rock and Roll Mcdonald's and Jesus is the Answer, with bizarre references to corporate slogans:

"Rock over London, Rock on Chicago; Wheaties, Breakfast of Champions"

"Rock over London, Rock on Chicago; Mitsubishi, the Word is getting around."

Sorry, but I can't seem to help myself. Here's an example of Wesley Willis' lyrics:

Alanis Morissette

Found on Fabian Road Warrior

You are a rock star
You are a rock legend to the max
You can really knock it out
You can really wupp a horse's ass

Alanis Morissette
Alanis Morissette
Alanis Morissette
Alanis Morissette

You are a rocking maniac
You are a singing hyena
You are a rock star in Jesus' name
You can really rock Saddam Hussein's ass

Alanis Morissette
Alanis Morissette
Alanis Morissette
Alanis Morissette

You are my sweet woman to the end
You are my honey lover to the max
You are my sweetheart for years to come
You are so lovable to me in the long run

Alanis Morissette
Alanis Morissette
Alanis Morissette
Alanis Morissette

Taco Bell, make a run for the border

Shambles, shmambles.

"The rock and roll was perfect, the jam was a success."

Wesley and I have traded head-butts. The giant of a man has a loonie sised calus on his forehead. His back-up band 'the fiasco' was cut loose because 'the demon' said so. Mr Willis' was the last show I saw in the now rubbled Starfish Room. Weep Vancouver.
