ok....so i just started a new job a few weeks ago...i can't even put into words how stupid my newest job is...i dont' mind the fact that i'm making less money then i made 10 years ago working at Dairy Queen...it's just that this job is so stupid.....i'm now working for one of the largest polling companies in Canada (the world actually)...and i can't help but think i'm not only wasting my time...but the people i interupt over the phone as well....i mean...the questions asked are so stupid and loaded they are virtually worthless...and the people that run the "polling" company i presently work for require everyone to be a robot...don't laugh, don't talk, don't think....just talk and type
if you ever get a call from one of Canada's (and the worlds) biggest polling firms...say this: "this is a cell phone....put me on your Do Not Call List"...
once upon i time i thought polls might have served some sort of useful purpose....after doing the crap work i've done the last few weeks.....polls are so fully loaded and full of crap they're pretty much worthless

66% of my time was wasted doing polls for commercials...it's kind of funny....we convince Americans that we want to send them a VCR tape to get their opinions on what we call is a pilot for a situation comedy (not in so many words...we're taught to be much more sneaky and cunning).....but in truth...we have people watch a half hour comedy to get their opinions about commercials....sure...we ask questions about the sitcom we have them watch (to make them think they're giving opionions about a possilbe new tv show)....but in actuallity....we simply ask the questions about the show to make people think we give a shit....we're told to not write down any opinions.....we only care about the commercials....great scam
i just can't do the job anymore....i mean...last week i couldn't stop laughing when one of the woman i was interviewing/"polling" starting laughing about the stupidity of the questions i was asking....i just couldn't stop laughing with her...i fully admitted to her that this "poll" was almost completely worthless and stupid...i apoligized for wasting her time
maybe one third of the polls i've done with my new employer was even somewhat relevant (even thos polls were loaded)....but at least two thirds of the work done by this international, Canadian company is complete garbage....but the Liberals can claim they're creating jobs eh?

Let me guess, Call Me? They wanted me to start at a whole $8 an hour. And to get this princely sum, I would have to work 6 days a week, commute over a hour (each way) plus walk over a km. Yeah. Sign me up.
