Hi.

You may have read my thread on Shared Parenting - Equal Rights for Fathers. You may have noticed that it has been locked, despite the good discussion we were having. Audra feels that she is the ultimate arbiter of feminist orthodoxy, and has warned me against being "anti-feminist" in the feminist forum for promoting shared parenting.

Audra, you are a petty, little bully.

I don't think it was promoting shared parenting that prompted Audra to close this thread, it was your obvious anti-female comments that made it inappropriate for a Feminism forum. She stated earlier you were free to open it in a different section. Instead of trying to turn people against Audra, who not reopen this in a more appropriate section?

I think anyone who starts a thread about audra should be banned immediately. Experience tells me that, more often than not, that is what happens anyway.

Why make us suffer through all the crap and just get it over with.

BTW, personal attacks are also against the policy of this forum, and all babble forums. That aside, this thread is shameful and childish.

Rebecca, you're saying it's shameful and childish to get mad about being censored?

I've read your stuff, and you are a smart, eloquent person. If what I'm saying is so wrong then use those smarts and that eloquence and kick my ass from one end of this forum to the other. Or simply say nothing.

And by the way, in calling this thread shameful and childish, aren't you indulging in personal attacks?

Yes, I have a lame social life, but at least now I have an amusing story for brunch tomorrow.

Anyhow, I feel about as welcome as a bastard at a family picnic, so I'll be going.

Nice to meet y'all!

Or are you just sucking up to Audra?

I'll take Paul Lynde to block.

quote:

Some are born to it, others, and I seriously suspect Paul might be one such, are self made.

Lets delete this thread, it contains an ad-hominem attack in the title, and as such constitutes justifiable threadacide.

There is babble precident on this.

I read through the "Shared Parenting" thread. Can someone please explain to me where Paul Lynde said anything anti-feminist?

Paul: The difference between "Audra, you are a petty, little bully" and "this thread is shameful and childish" is that Audra is a person, but a thread is a collection of ideas. Attacking an idea is legit; attacking a person is what's called a "personal attack" and is bad form.

It may seem like splitting hairs, since obviously criticism of the thread is an indirect criticism of the person who started it. But there is a difference in tone which can often prevent heated discussions from degenerating into meaningless insults.

I hope and believe that this is just a misunderstanding. I hope you're not gone for good.

Hey Paul Lynde jr. Relax a bit. Your shared parenting thread looks interesting. I think that the problem is not 'Women'. There seems to have been a generation of men who were indifferent fathers. I think that trend has ended and I see a lot more men being very present in their children's lives.

This is not going to change overnight. Women are not to blame. Stop blaming and try to figure out a way of presenting your arguement that will help rectify the situation.

We all have stories of child abuse by fathers. We see it in the Newspapers, TV etc. Not helpful in a discussion.

Double post. It is not helpful to jump down Audra's throat. It is not an easy job to moderate.
Can't please all of the people all the time. It is important that Babble does not become a shit slinging site.

In scientific terminology a moderator is something that either attenuates or exaggerates the phenotypic expression of a gene. Or in this case a Lynd.

I was enjoying that thread even though I did not really approve of the title. But I have to get a life and start doing other things besides babbling all the time too. They say people babble for six months, their interest wanes and they get involved in other things and then their interest comes back.

I've been sticking to threads I can respond to while sick a bit too much - the easy ones where the alternative perspectives are wellrehearsed. If anyone wants to start another thread as to why adults grow up violent or how the media and other social influences perpetuate violence, I'm game.

I closed the thread and neglected to mention it had been moved to Body and Soul.

It was closed because this forum is pro feminist and the topic was decidedly anti women and has no place on any forum.

So get off Audra's back and don't bother climbing on mine. I don't give piggy backs to overgrown brats.

edited to add....I'm closing this too. We have a policy against threads which are started merely to attack other people on the board, I don't see why that same courtesty shouldn't be extented to Audra.

Sorry, earthmother, but I'm reopening this thread and moving it to "rabble reactions." It's true that criticisms of moderators and staff at rabble would be more helpful if they focused on the matter at hand rather than attacking the individual. However, we do have the power to do things that might upset people. It would be unfair for us to not allow any kind of response if people object to our actions, under the guise that nobody's supposed to be individually targeted on babble threads.
