China bans some Canadian pork

quote:
China has banned pork imports from a Maple Leaf Foods Inc. plant after its Brandon, Man., facility were found to contain the growth stimulant ractopamine...China has forbidden the use of ractopamine, a feed additive commonly used in Canada and the United States to increase lean meat and reduce fat in hogs. Ractopamine is permitted by more than 20 countries worldwide but China has for some time refused to import any pork containing the additive.
