Hebron Region:

On 13 November:
The Israeli military prevented nine members of the Abu Ishkhaidem family, who are residents of Hebron, from accessing their land to harvest their olives. Their land is located five kilometers to the west of the city, near the Tailem settlement; the Israeli soldiers claimed that the land is a closed area. The residents were taken to the police station in Kiryat Arba’, along with their agriculture tractors, where the police informed them that they have no right either to be on the land or to work it. The family said that this is part of Israel’s policy, in order to confiscate the land for expansion of the settlement later.

SNIP

Bethlehem Region

On 13 November:
The Israeli military has begun leveling and damaging agricultural land known as Khallet Abu ‘Agla, and other places to the east of Afrata settlement. The aim of the work is to build the Separation Wall around the settlement. The land belongs to tens of families from Wadi Rahhal, Om Salamona and Joret el Sham’a Palestinian villages to the south of Bethlehem. Musataf Hindi, Local Council Member of Joret El Shama’a, stated that the work has caused damage to tens of dunam of land. Hundreds of grape and olive trees have also been uprooted from this agriculturally rich area. This means that tens of farmers and families will lose their income. Additionally, the presumed path of the Wall will be very close to a school for boys in the village. Of course, this will also limit the development of the villages in the future. The Palestinian farmers have begun preparations to protest against this work on their land by staying on it and calling press and solidarity movements to be with them.

Among Others

Now why would a country need a Separation Wall around the settlement ?

Democracy will prevail, human beings enjoy a positive outlook on life.

Because they are stuck in 19th Century racist modes of thinking and seem to think that relegating Arabs to second-class status is okay as a long as it serves their false belief that seperation will bring them security.

Oh and as for the settlement itself - it's part of an equally racist plan to expand the state of Israel according to it's "ancient Biblical borders" in spite of international law and the presence of Palestinians on the desired land.

It's too bad Israel doesn't extend your sunny notion of democracy to Palestinians.

Sorry I don't agree.

http://www.pmw.org.il/tv.html

We need to change these ridiculous Ideologies
on both sides and move on.
Sixty years of this nonsense is enough.

The sooner we get rid of these religious radical lunatics the better Imo.

Stop the negative attitudes and we can begin to rebuild freindships and hope.
How can we move forward if so many feel it's a better life after death than living here on Earth ?

It's absurd.(Foolish; irrational; ridiculous; preposterous; inconsistent; incongruous.)

Absolutely right Centerfield. The blame game is completely nonproductive. Since this sis a progressive forum, it would be refreshing if we could progress beyond accusations and find solutions.

It sure would. First we have to identify the problems. From a progressive point of view, the settlements and the Seperation Wall are an abomination. The ideology that supports their purported "necessity" is as non-progressive as can be imagined. It is routed in racism. So, what do you propose we do to dismantle them? What practical steps do you both think ought to be taken?

So there is no racism involved? Why then are these Arabs not afforded the same rights as Israelis? Perhaps you could explain?

There's little to be served by cherrypicking the worst of examples. Better to widen one's scope and mind, look at the larger dynamic, and seek root causes and perpetuating dynamics.

Analysis of these events are better served by watching what people do, not what they say. While Palestinians impotently chest-beat, Israel is confining them into every-shrinking concentration camps.

Ironically, that chest-beating is serving Israeli purposes by perpetuating the myth of a Palestinian threat.

The point is there isn't an explanation. Its all about an egotistic "I have bigger balls than you do " Ideology.

Put a woman in power in the middle east than we can talk reality.

How Ironic, many told me to listen to my mother and only now I understand she was right lol.

OK, put a woman in power in the Middle East who ACCEPTS that there's such a thing as a Palestinian and then we can talk reality.

You are right. Living here on Earth and wanting to realize some pseudo-Biblical 'promises'. But again, isn't that the root of the problem

The root cause is mutual hatred and mutual destruction no matter who is "really" at fault.
So, how to start to find a way to live together in peace. Otherwise, round and round we will go.
