Dear Khaled and all, After carefull consideration I decided to respond publicly to your letter, in hope that other people and groups on the list will examine the issue and have their say in speaking up against this blatant act and we must take a stand by condemming this morally wrong biased position by the mayor and the chief. Here we are again, another betrayal (I could not find another word) from a politician (supposed to be a friend) and the Chief of police. Both claim to be advocate for communities, understanding diversities and respecting equity and equality, yet, they have no shame in walking for an oppressive and discriminatory state that suppresses and oppresses the Palestinians, violates their human rights and their lives as well. Any review of the many resolutions of the UN, the Security Council, Amnesty International, the International Court of justice and other respected human rights organizations around the world, would leave no shred of any doubts about the nature if this state and its inhuman practices against the Palestinians. When the organizers for the "Walk with Israel" called as it is: Walk with Israel, Mayor Miller and Chief Blair don't have a leg to stand on when they describe it as walk with the community! They are walking for a foreign, occupying and oppressive state period, which means that in addition to aiding an oppressor and occupier, they are violating the ethical codes and moral values of their offices. I wonder if the coming Municipal election has anything to do in deciding to participate with this walk?. Ali

Dear Khaled,Thank you for posting Ali's comments. It would have been much more within the practice of the forum to avoid opening a second thread on the same topic. It would have also helped furthering the discussion that is being carried in the original thread. Even better, Ali, I am sure, would have been a welcome new Babbler and added his own voice. In solidarity with Palestinians and all oppressed peoples strugggling to assert their human dignity and rights. sidra
