Has anyone noticed the irony that after the Pope committed the faux pas of saying that Islam was a violent religion, the reaction from some Muslims was to threaten to kill him and to have violent demonstrations - which of course would only make any observer think that the Pope was right.

Personally, i don't know who I hate more - Pope Benedict or the violent mobs that are attacking him for implying that they are violent!

Some of us had I'm sure but saying that on this board seems to get you in a lot of trouble.
Irony and sarcasm doesn't play well here.

Yeah, I know what you are saying. What is a message board if you can't be a completely clueless quasi-bigoted idiot, and make sweeping generalization about 1 billion plus people?

Let me put it to you this way: If the Muslims were all a bunch of screaming crazed fanatics and did all to riot, there wouldn't be much left of the planet, our cities would be smoking ruing of burned out cars, and broken windows. So do the math numb nuts.

Everyone was about to quitley let this piece of bigotted horeshit drop, and then you came along and said: Hey I am a friggin idiot too!

That doesn't answer my question. How can someone be upset about being accused of being violent and then react by being...violent. When someone does that they are essentially admitting that the original comment was accurate.

How does someone continue to be anti-Muslim in almost all posts and still get away with it? Enquiring minds want to know. I hope you have more than two notes to sing Stockholm.

I read his opening post yesterday. He doesn't even come close to generalizing about all Muslims. He said that SOME Muslims reacted with violence and death threats. Which, if you think about it, is a really, really stupid way to react to a statement by some idiot racist that Muslims are violent.

You know, folks, there are extremists in all religions. If he'd written that exact same statement about some Christians, you'd all be piling on in agreement.

That said, I can't see anything good coming out of this thread. Nothing newsworthy in it, no links to any articles, just a yuk-yuk thread about something ugly. I'm going to close it.
