How odd!

quote:
A library in a small community in southern Sweden has started a novel program to promote diversity and break down stereotypes.

In addition of borrowing books on different cultures the Malmoe Library is now offering people.

The living library project is called ŒBorrow a Bias¹. It allows townsfolk to borrow any of nine different minority people. Borrowers have 45 minutes to confront the prejudices in the library¹s outdoor cafe.

³You sometimes hear people¹s prejudices and you realize that they are just uninformed,² said Ulla Brohed, the chief librarian and the person who conceived the idea.

The group includes a lesbian, a gay, an imam, a Muslim woman, a journalist, an animal rights advocate, a Dane, and a Romany or Gypsy and one other to announced later.

...What are the charges if someone is kept longer than the due date?

Would it be something like 1 Kron a week or would it be kidnapping?

A Dane! How cute! Maybe they'll share a Tuborg together.

Maybe a Canadian library could do the same, only rent out an ordinary, non-offensive American. Some Babblers could benefit from that!

Danes have never lived down the fact that they were the allies of the British at the time of the French Revolution, and in the subsequent Napoleonic period.

During the late 1790's, and until about 1814, there was a British blockade of Sweden and Norway, which led to great privation. But the Danes cut a separate deal, and prospered greatly.

Also, Danish sounds funny.

I hope that everyone realizes that that is sheer Norwegian prejudice speaking.

I can prove that Danish sounds funny.

If you google "potet i halsen" (which means "potato in your throat"), you will get a discussion of why Danish sounds funny.

It sounds like you are speaking with potatoes in your throat.

This topic is discussed here:

And in similar sites throught the North.

Unfortunately all the discussions appear to be in North Germanic dialects
