quote: SANTIAGO, CHILE - Environmentalists are lobbying against a Canadian mining company's plan to move three glaciers to gain access to a huge reserve of gold in Chile.
This seems almost surreal.
I'm wondering what some environmentalists think about this kind of intervention into nature? I'm sort of in awe that someone would comtemplate such a thing but that's more based on a spiritual shock that I feel whenever large parts of the earth are alters (it's the same for me when I hear of land being reclaimed). What are the scientific consequences of moving glaciers from one area and tacking them onto another, larger glacier?
