I just heard on the radio that there's a McDonalds in Sweden with a drive-thru designed specifically for snowmobiles. Considering how many snowmobilers there are in Canada, might we be next?

In some places down south they have drive thru liquor stores, now isn't that sending a bad message. Who would snowmobile to Mcdonalds(actually, who would go there period). Canadian's are already sensitive to the fact Americans think we drive them year round and live in Igloos.
I was watching a documentary on the Mclibel case and saw the back of a mcdonalds in london. They're running around as if they were in a Navy Submarine. And as packed as if they were as well.
I'm sure it's like this in any big city but since I live in Sudbury, I wouldn't Know.

I've seen that in Buffalo (or in one of the cities nearby; I can't remember).

Right now, we have rain. The snowmobilers all came out this weekend because it's been snowing all week. Guess they'll be packing it in early.

I've seen them packed into local family restaurants (parking, no problem; three to a space), glad of the warmth and congeniality. Why in the world would they want to eat outside?

This is snowmobile country- and there's plenty of snow, unfortunately.

The Liberal MPP's even did a "snowmobile tour" across the north last year.

Saying anything against snowmobile's is like pissing on the grave of Jesus Christ, or something... I've GOT to get out of this town!

Seems to me that a snowmobile might be an effective way of travelling in town to places that are too far to walk - smaller than a car, uses less fuel (maybe? I don't know that one for sure) and goes fast enough that it's convenient. Plus it's probably fun.

Personally, I think snowmobiling is a lot like driving a washing machine...

Seriously, the prairies haven't had big snowfalls like we used to for a long time. The blond guy remembers his rural cousins used to go everywhere on snow machines, snow would drift up over the fences, so they could go pretty much anywhere. Haven't seen a snowfall like that in decades now.

And this year was particularly bare. We know a family that's got 10 grand in snow machines they didn't even bother taking out of storage this year.

Hope it rains this spring, or we're in big doo-doo....

(edited for spelling)

Uses less fuel, but pollutes way more. Small engine machines (particularly 2-stroke engines) like snowmobiles, boats, lawnmowers, snowblowers, etc, don't have catalytic converters. Emission controls on small engines are virtually non-existant.

quote:
Lawn mowers in the US burn nearly 800 million gallons of gas per year. In only half an hour, a gas-powered mower emits more pollution than a car driven 187 miles.
