If I were a bettin' man, I'd bet a sizable chuck of dough that it will be President Hillary Clinton come January 2009. And, as I've said here before, she will be nearly as militaristic as Bush/Cheney. Cosmetically, she may appear more dovish to the average voter, but if Iran gets close to having nukes, she will undoubtedly attack Iran. Ditto if there is another large-scale terrorist attack against Americans. So, from a foreign-policy perspective, she will likely, in all substantive ways, continue the Bush/Cheney agenda. What will be interesting to see is if the world criticism of her will be more muted than it was regarding Bush-Cheney.

I think Hillary and Obama would both attack Iran for a lot less than a nuclear weapons pretext. If the insurgents in Iraq were being supplied shoulder rockets from Iran ie. SAM's or MANPADs, like stinger missiles the CIA supplied to mujahideen and proxies in 1980s Afghanistan, then this would spell complete disaster for the occupation in Iraq. That would give the psychopathic Pentagon capitalists a green light go to wage dirty war on Ahmadinajad's oil-rich country. If chickenhawks think that the grunts from AnySmallTown post-cold war USA have it tough in Iraq now, then they don't know. [ 09 October 2007: Message edited by: Fidel ]
