Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry issued a communiqué yesterday in which it demanded that the U.S. government present proof of repeated allegations that Venezuela is funding “anti-democratic” groups in “Bolivia, Ecuador, and elsewhere.” Earlier this week Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives (R-FL) released a letter from the U.S. State Department, in which State Department official Matthew Reynolds had made this allegation. State Department spokesperson Tom Casey confirmed the allegation again yesterday.

That's a laugh. The US has even documented its own monetary contributions to various organizations inside Venezuela. Hypocrisy, thy name is the United States of America.

I agree, this is largely the US of A's problem when it comes to foreign policy goals. Hypocrisy. And while it's not something limited to only them, they sure as heck need to walk the talk if they want support for their ‘leadership’ walk.
In any case I wonder what the US will actually say in response. Will there be any evidence. I don't think they'd invade or anything, they're far too stretched out, and that's a completely last resort type thing, as it's too blunt. I suspect they'll largely ignore Venezuela's challenge, as their policy on Venezuela seems to be largely influenced by domestic concerns* and thus they couldn't care less about what the rest of the world thinks about their credibility, so long as they don't create too much trouble.
