I don't buy Bauer because of the Nike takeover, now buying Tacks will be just as bad.

Fortunately I'm so old I won't need to buy another pair of skates for myself. My last Tacks lasted almost 20 years, with a blade replacement here and there.

You'll need to buy skates for your kids though. My old CCM bike was made in Canada. I was happy to see CCM bikes at Canadian Tire, though now of course they are mostly made in the Orient, but now those will really be "Reebok" too.

Perhaps MEC could start making skates?

Well that sucks. I remember my dad taking me every year( till I was 8 anyway) to buy a CCM bike for my birthday.

When Nike took over Canstar/Bauer, they killed off many of their product lines: Cooper, Mega, etc. (I got a great deal on some Mega skates around that time because they were some of the last ones produced, and the store was just selling off the remaining stock) I hope Reebok doesn't do the same with The Hockey Company. I also worry about what happens when these big companies lose interest in hockey or decide they're not profitable enough..do they just shed the whole division and hockey players are SOL? So much for the market giving consumers more choice
