I've cats with 6 toes, but a 6 legged dog is a first for me!

If the puppy is healthy, that is all that matters, and it sounds as though it met the right people, too. I am so glad.
IANAV (brebis noire?), but it could be that that puppy was headed towards being something like conjoined twins during gestation. Probably just as well that the second head, etc, never developed.

Eee! I'm glad I've never seen that before in consultation! (Several years ago there was a two-headed calf born in our area.)
I'd wonder what was going on in the uterus - something toxic ingested by the mother? Or just a freak genetic accident? With two penises, I'd wonder if it has four testicles. I'd also wonder what else is wrong that you can't see from the outside.
If that puppy makes it to adulthood, I'd definitely advise not using it for breeding!

I wonder why the article was named "Six-legged puppy..." rather than "two-penised puppy...".
Anyway, I found it to be quite a cute-looking pup. My brother-in-law's parents have a cat which is a bit similar but far less radical. The cat, psyche, had an extra paw partially growing out of a couple of its paws. They mentioned it having something to do with conjoined twins.

I hope that this poor guy survives.
