Apparently there's not enough money in guns these days (oddly enough), so manufacturer Smith and Wesson is diversifying its offerings to include such items as home decor, clothing and jewelry.

*sigh* Yet another thing has happened people would have laughed at you for a year ago.

The CNN story about it

Well, yeah but there were no handguns on that site.

Maybe they could market a stylish line of body bags and coffins.

I was looking for some killer spike-heeled boots (I foresee further adventures with Li'l Jimmy Flaherty), but they don't seem to have any. Sigh.

Do you see, though? They have a Faux Elephant Suede Skirt? Do you think that is Faux Elephant or Faux Suede or Faux both?

I wonder if this might foreshadow companies like Pottery Barn getting into the sidearms market? Nothing would keep handguns out of the hands of criminals like a designer label, and the associated $$$pricetag! How about a nice wicker gun from Pier One? Or a $6000 Prada holster from Holt Renfrew?

Sigh. Faithless Deceiver(tm), etc. & so forth...

Meanwhile, in that screenprinted Wild Horses shirt, I'm sure I could knock 'em dead.

D'you know, Magoo, you have reminded me of something I truly do lust after, and this is serious, except ...

Just the other day I saw the grooviest -- well, not wicker, exactly, but woven reeds, maybe -- ancient Chinese suitcases. I mean, yes, that's what they were, all stained a beautiful burnished colour. They were supposedly almost a century old. They really were most beautiful things.

You wouldn't use them as suitcases, but as, um, objets, I suppose, although you could certainly store things in them.

Two things prevented me from buying: the thought of the real lives behind them, probably very tough ones; and the, ah, price ($395 per).
