I found this excerpt in an article explaining how to get the most out of your employees, business section of the Globe (July 1st 2005)... I thought it was kinda funny.Employees are trouble makers... In any workplace, there are all kinds of personalities and you'll encounter a few who have developed a deep distrust of authority figures. In extreme cases, this goes beyond distrust to anger and hate. It may result from emotional or physical abuse in childhood, an undetected learning disability or, in extreme situations, a severe mental problem. Whatever the reason, it affects their work, sometimes drastically. Managers must confront the situation with corrective and progressive discipline, using expert help if necessary. Eventually, it will be resolved and, while difficult and demanding, will be a worthwhile learning experience. And others, realizing you took necessary action, will respect you for it.
