Surprise.

quote:
If you doubt that globalism and corporate ethics are on trial in the court of public opinion, just consider the way separate focus groups of employees and business leaders answered questions about job security.

Workers said preserving U.S. jobs should be a major ethical priority for businesses. Layoffs should be a last resort.

But corporate leaders described the loss of jobs as a business decision. It wasn't a moral or ethical issue.

(Yes, you have to register. Sorry, folks.)

Am I surprised? Not at all. Workers are increasingly being regarded as simply another "cost" to "control", even if it means treating them with callous and wanton indifference and lack of decency.

Here's the press release about the study from Public Agenda. Unfortunately, you do have to register to download the complete study.

When typical citizens talk about business ethics, what really gets under their skin are executives who enrich themselves while driving their companies into the ground. Protecting employees’ jobs, they say, should be a top ethical priority for American business.

Is anyone surprised that the greedy corporate bastards are not ethical?
I mean their very job description is, to find new ways on how to exploit people more effectively for their profit and how to manipulate the tax system to their advantage..
