This could just as well go in the "culture" forum I guess, or "history" if we had one.

Every day, Slate magazine has a feature called "Today's Pictures," which brings together photos on one topic or another from Magnum Photos, the collective started by Robert Capa et al.

Today's was entitled "Chaos in Lithuania." I thought it was about present-day unrest, and wondered why I hadn't heard of it.

I'd forgotten all about the people-power movement and the Soviet intervention of January 1991, and had certainly never seen these photos.

They're all quite remarkable.
