If you thought you had a bad job - look at this, it could be so much worse.

Well, if it maximizes returns for shareholders, it has to be good.

This is a straight abuse of human rights. It will cause illness, serious illness, of several kinds. And beyond that, there's the small matter of human dignity and liberty.

It would be good to follow this story and find out who the international bosses are.

i went looking but unfortunately diapers were a low priority, after breathing, child labor, slavery,... well you get the picture.

Yes, it would be good to find out who the foriegn capital is.

It's a good illustration though, of why we need unions. There's a good many people in this country who believe that because we have laws to protect workers, and the rather naive belief that employers have somehow "learned their lesson" and wouldn't do such things in Canada, that unions are superfluous.

They can forget that employers, besides being greedy, can be twisted wack jobs, and by virtue of our corrupt political system, have access to changing the law that the rest of us are not permitted.

Isn't it funny how these absurd things happen in female dominated work forces? I'm reminded of a fish packing plant on our east coast that implemented a "no talking" policy. Those women, all they do is gab you know. Not like men. (!?) But this is not the extreme. I believe there was a plant in Vietnam, or if not, some South East Asian country, that required women to work with their mouth's duct taped.

And there was that wack job from, I think, Alberta, who liked to walk around his workers with a Bull Whip hanging from his belt.

I don't see how this could really increase profits that much even? If they can't use the washroom, those diapers will be raunch by the end of the day. Who's going to want to buy food from a store that smells like crap?

It has nothing to do with business. It's some creep playing out a control fantasy on unconsenting women.

Tommy is right. It is a macho control fantasy (if the story is true - oddly, I follow Argentine news rather closely and receive a weekly bulletin from the CTA, the most left-wing labour federation in that country, and haven't seen this story). Adult diapers are expensive and wage costs are low in Argentina, hurtling down to Third-World status (a century ago it was richer and more developed than Canada).

Moreover all medical supplies including adult diapers have been in short supply in Argentina since the outbreak of the recent currency crisis. Folks are dying from treatable conditions such as diabetes due to insulin shortages and high costs.

I can only hope that the story is a hoax. It would be a shameful world in which it was true.
