Is it possible that the English police are over-reacting in the face of terror against a civilian population?I thought it was only the Israelis who over-reacted to that kind of thing, in those kind of circumstances.... Still....read below.. Mind you... what a shock it must be to the English sense of self-righteousness. http://news.yahoo.com/s/cpress/20050723/ca_pr_on_wo/britain_bombings LONDON (AP) - London police identified a man mistakenly shot dead in a subway station Saturday as a 27-year-old Brazilian citizen.

There is a thread on this in the news section. Whatever can be made of this act I think there is a clear distinction between getting hot-headed and shooting an innocent man, and having your superior officers order you out on a death sqaud. quote: In graphic testimony, one soldier has confessed that he "really enjoyed" a chase in which he shot an unarmed Palestinian in the head who was trying to escape during a series of reprisal raids ordered the day after the killing of six Israeli soldiers in an ambush by militant gunmen three years ago.In what may be the first inside account of such an operation, the soldiers from two reconnaissance units say they were among troops ordered by their commanders to "liquidate" the police officers at a series of Palestinian West Bank checkpoints even though they were given no evidence they had been involved in the killing of the Israelis.
I think this whole think of trying to make it out that British actions excuse Israeli actions is very, very, very trite, and ovioulsy self defeating, as I have just demonstrated. Hey! I have an idea! Rather than sitting at home trying to justify Israel, why don't you send Ariel Sharon a letter asking about what is up with this death squad stuff? [ 24 July 2005: Message edited by: Cueball ]
