From the link:

quote:
A senior General Staff officer told Haaretz that for the first time since the fighting began, Israel plans to attack strategic infrastructure targets and symbols of the Lebanese government.

Other than bombing the Beirut airport to prevent arms transfers to Hezbollah, Israel has hitherto not targeted Lebanon's infrastructure, insisting that it is only at war with Hezbollah, not with the Lebanese government or people.

However, the officer said, "we are now in a process of renewed escalation. We will continue hitting everything that moves in Hezbollah - but we will also hit strategic civilian infrastructure."

My goodness me! Who then hit the milk factory, all the roads, apartment blocks, a petroleum factory, etc?

Call an investigation immediately. Someone, but not Israel, has been bombing Lebanese civilian infrastructure for the past 3 weeks.

You know, it's easy to despair, but when you read a letter like this in response to the above article, despair just doesn't seem enough.

quote:
Title: Litani River

Name: Rabbi Yakov Lazaros

City: State: USA

It is imperative for the IDF to keep going and take control of Lebanon up to the Litani River.
Also they should be destroying the sites of suspected rocket launchers BEFORE the enemy has a chance to fire not after.

Thanks Rabbi.

Your are correct Siren sometimes dispair does not seem to be enough, and I felt more than dispair when when the Harper government took contriol and announced it was spending hugz on military, as one has to realize they want us in this up to our necks.

What is beyond dispair?

I am not surprised. In EVERY WAR, Israel illegally targets civilians!

Bulldozing of civlian homes (sometimes WITH PEOPLE IN THEM) is CLEARLY illegal.

Targetting the opponents of Israel by ATTACKING CIVILIAN APARTMENT BUILDINGS because "terrorists" are there TENDS TO KILL MORE CIVILIANS THAN "TERRORISTS".

As part of the 'terrorist' driven world, the Israeli don't have to target civilian structures. They declare everyone in southern Lebanon terrorists and start bombarding... Tis no longer civilian, cause all them civilians are terrorists already. Hit fruit pickers? Now worries, those apple trees musta been hiding missiles or something terror related ^^

It's weird in modern day politics that you can't goto war with a nation any longer, instead you must label the entire population as terrorists first and then goto war with the 'terrorists' as well. Since there are so many eyes on the region, if we saw this conflict for what it actually was, there'd be international backlash (bigger than there is today). But instead, the same USian media war machine that had it's population convinced Iraq = Al Qaeda = Direct cause of 9/11, is successfully labelling an entire population as terrorists and giving the go ahead for the Israeli military to slaughter civilians (as long as they erase the word 'civilian' from every report and replace it with the word 'terrorist').

I disagree Ohara... That truely seems to be the stance coming from the Israeli/USian medias.
