quote:(Garches)A team of experts plans a series of tests to determine whether Joan of Arc's supposed remains - a rib bone and some skin - may indeed have belonged to the 15th-century French heroine burned at the stake after a trial fo heresy.

If the team of scientists is able to date back these remains to 1431, the year of Jeanne d'Arc's death, it will be quite an exciting find.

I heard an historian on Peter Gzowski's programme talking about how years after her supposed death, the City of Orleans gave an absolute fortune to a Mme.........(I forget the name) "for service to the City of Orleans", and the historian said someone else was burned. His version was that a woman who was dying of childbirth fever was given a dose of opiate and taken either unconscious or already dead, to the pyre and that Joan of Arc took the woman's newborn son and was spirited away. A couple of years later a nobleman was denounced for being gay and would have been executed but Joan of Arc married him and said the prostitutes son was his, so he was spared and........I don't really care if this is true or not I LIKE THE STORY!! And if it didn't happen, it should have!!! In any event it seems the gift of the large sum of money is on record.
