Kerry took the head off Bush with his comments..
quote:

I'm tired of politicians who talk about family values that don't value families.

I"m not going to appoint a judge who is going to take away a constitutional right.

Let me go a step further. Fairness in America....50% of black males are unemployed in New York City. and on and on and on and on...

Bush is taking a gigantic pounding. He's leering like a streetyard bully who's been caught.

That Texan is taking a terrible horsewhipping! Somebody put George W. out of his misery!

Wow. I'm impressed.

I tried to find the debate on C-Span, but it didn't seem to be working for me.

Any more good tidbits from it?

"I believe that the President broke faith with the American people by taking us to war. "

George W. ...is truly fucked. Whoever was listening knows who the idiot is now.

Hasta la vista Dubya!

Because of the President's decision today...

There are too many people in this country who feel the stark....evil of racism. ...yet this is a President who refuses to meet with civil rights leaders.

I believe the text of John Kerry's contributions match some of the sublime gentleness of a previous senator from Massachussi.....

Then comes along Dubya.

"I pray a lot. ...I pray for strength...for wisdom.

That's the great thing about America. (long commercial follows)

Prayer and religion sustained me. ...I love the fact that people pray for me. ...

I believe that freedom in Afghanistan is a gift from the almighty.

Dubya:Freedom is a gift from the almighty.

Kerry:Everything is a gift from the almighty.

Kerry is kicking the shit out of this Texas two-stepper. Yeeeeee Ha!

Hey, he checked with a "higher authority" to see whether or not to invade Iraq. God.

(Found it online here.)

And now he's using Christian religious imagery to support his killing and his pillaging of the poor in his country. That pisses me off so much.

Kerry:I've never seen such ideological struggles in Washington....I've reached out ...

I will pledge to you.....a genuine effort to restore hope and possibilities for Americans.

Dubya: My biggest disappointment in Washington...blah blah

entrenched special interests....

talk about their issue. I will dig in.

My plan will succeed in Iraq. My opponent will retreat and defeat.

Strong women...need to be listened to. To stand up straight and now skowl. (laughter from the audience which violates the rules of the debate!!!!!!!!!!)

...met her in the backyard.

...who married up. .., some would say maybe me more than others...
(laughter has equalized. all is normal)

I can sometimes take myself too seriously. ...I think we are both very lucky (referring to the women in their lives)

Bush really was full of it. But Kerry trounced him, in my opinion.

I agree with Stirling Newberry.

quote:
... no one is going to change their mind on this one.

Bets: polls will say draw, press will spin for Bush, partisans will have red meat.

I'm watching C-Span online right now and they're doing viewer feedback. They just had some ranting woman from New Jersey calling Kerry an "abomination". She was actually pretty funny - it was like a parody of a Bush supporter, except she was a real one!

The Kerry supporters sound intelligent and are actually analyzing the debate. The Bush supporters are calling up and saying, "He's a good Christian man. I think Jesus guides him. I think he won the debate," etc. One woman even said that Bush's excellent performance was the best moment in American history.

It's so funny to see the difference between the supporters. The Bush supporters sound so STUPID.

(Well, actually, one guy sounded intelligent, and at least he didn't pound the Bible. But most of the Bush supporters are, like, "I think Bush won the debate because I LOVE JESUS and so does Bush!")

Kerry's replies were spotty...and not consistent.

.....but he threw some astounding haymakers that I really am suprised Dubya didn't run into the corner and whine for his mommy. Honest to God!

Dubya has an ugly, leering demeanour. This is worth some analysis.

CBS claims that Kerry lost votes among women. His running mate is pounding back.

Canada...Canada. Again and again in the debate and in the discussion after. Our great underpopulated country is continually held up as a shining light from the north...acknowledged easily by both candidates...

Canada is the dream of America.

America is the nightmare of the world.

If Dubya wins it will be a Canadian nightmare.

Dave Letterman: Bush was losing so badly that he tried to buy a vowel.

Good one Dave Letterman!!!!!!!!!

I just saw some bubbleheaded Republican woman in the post-debate Newsworld spinfest, ominously echoing Dubya's repeated assertion that Kerry is (gasp) a "liberal".

The CBC moderator then pointed out that most of the Canadians watching her were probably "liberals" by US standards, and asked "What's wrong with being a liberal anyway?" She looked stunned, as if that question had never entered her head before, as if the very notion that "liberal" could possibly be anything but a negative term was incomprehensible. She then stammered a bit, babbled aimlessly, then got back on track and repeated that "Kerry is a LIBERAL. We can prove it."

What a bizarre political culture.

Dubya:I believe that the role of government is to stand side by side...blah..blah...

Voter:no drugs from Canada but flu shots from Canada are OK. Ha ah. ha. This voter is astute.

Voter2:Minimum wage needs to be brought up. I will be voting for Kerry.

I'm going to check out the transcript. It should be good and I think, if I haven't mentioned it more than once already, that Kerry has some fine stretches of speech. Both candidates used their hands intelligently...but Kerry was the fastest off the mark.

Kerry looks like he could cut pizza with his bare hands.
Chop chop chop his hands seem to say...

Dubya always seems like he's going to pull a gun out of his pocket, or something worse! Yeshhhh!

My favourite line is when Dubya tries to get spiritual on the Yankee Senator and takes a drubbing...

Dubya: Freedom is a gift of the almighty.

Kerry: (looking bored) Everything is a gift from the almighty.

Kerry could have added..."you fucking idiot. America deserves better than you."
