Recently, a german general was removed from his post for pointing out that if germans were collectively responsible for the Nazi's, then so, too, were jews collectively responsible for the Bolsheviks.

To begin with, it's a historic fact that the leaders of the Bolshevik revolution were primarily Jews. I pointed out this FACT and got kicked off Babble.

For those who aren't simpletons, try doing a google search on Solzhenitsyn, Bolshevik, and Jews. Read for yourself about Solzhenitsyn's most recent book about the role opf Jews in the Bolshevik revolution.

But of course, history is not a subject that Leftist simpletons are comfortable with. Championing the murder of Jews in Israel today by Death Cult Palestinians, that's OK, but discuss history, and somehow you must be an anti-semite.

Odd bunch, aren't you?

Look, Archimedes2000. If you keep playing Nicky-Nicky-Nine-Door in this weather, you'll be in danger of getting frostbite.

On the other hand, if you're selling insurance, for the last time, we don't want any.

Don't like history, little Lance?

Sad to be you, isn't it? So simple of mind that you can't actually read a book by one the world's most respected voices without bawling about "racism".

Sara, I've read dozens of comments from people who claim they 'understand' and 'sympathize' with the Palestinian terror bombers blowing up jews in restaraunts. All you have to do is search the archives.

If this isn't making common cause with terrorists, and championing the murder of Jews, I don't know what would be.

Here's a hummus recipe I like:

1/2 cup garbanzo beans - dried
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup tahini
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1 clove garlic - minced
1/2 teaspoon salt

In a small bowl, cover the garbanzos with an inch of water and stir in baking soda. Cover with a loose towel and let soak overnight.
Drain and rinse the garbanzos.

Transfer them to a medium saucepan. Cover with an inch of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook chickpeas until soft (1 hour), skimming the top as necessary. Drain the chickpeas.

In a blender puree the garbanzos (leave out and peel 3 tablespoons or so for garnish), tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and salt until smooth. If it's too thick (it should look like sour cream) add some water. Transfer to a serving dish. If desired drizzle with olive oil. Top with reserved chickpeas. Serve with pita bread.

Oh -- nearly forgot. Here's a recipe for leavened pita.

Though I admit I haven't yet made this myself.

1 package active dry yeast
1 1/4 cup warm water
3 cups flour (white or whole wheat)
2 tsp salt

Dissolve yeast in water. Stir in flour and salt. Knead on a floured surface for about five minutes. Dough will be smooth.

Divide into six balls and knead each until smooth and elastic. Flatten each to 1/4" thick and 4-5 inches in diameter.

Cover with a damp towel and rise 45 minutes in a warm spot.

Place upside down on a cookie sheet. Bake in hot oven (500 degrees) until light brown.

FALAFEL WITH CILANTRO YOGURT IN PITA BREAD

1 cup plain yogurt
1 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 cup chopped onion
5 large garlic cloves, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

2 15-ounce cans garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained
3 tablespoons plus 1/2 cup all purpose flour
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 large egg

Olive oil
4 warm pita breads, top third cut off
Sliced tomatoes
Crisp lettuce leaves

Whisk yogurt, 1/2 cup cilantro, 1/4 cup onion, 1 garlic clove, lemon juice and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne in medium bowl to blend; season with salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Blend garbanzo beans, 3 tablespoons flour, cumin, remaining 1/2 cup cilantro, 4 garlic cloves and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne in processor until almost smooth. Add egg and remaining 3/4 cup onion and blend, using on/off turns, until onion is finely chopped. Transfer mixture to bowl; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Shape mixture into four 1/2-inch-thick patties. Turn patties in remaining 1/2 cup flour to coat on both sides.

Pour enough oil into heavy large skillet to coat bottom; heat over medium-high heat. Add patties and cook until crisp and golden, about 8 minutes per side. Open pita breads; slide 1 patty, sliced tomato and lettuce into each. Spoon in some yogurt mixture.

Makes 4 servings.

Hi guys. Sorry for my troll-feeding up there. I wanted to believe a 74-year-old (who was I kidding!) could participate in a rational debate. Anyway no excuse. I'm deleting my posts to avoid continued embarassment.

Can I have some hummus? The recipe looks delish.

'lance, you surprise me, taking Mr Teme for A2K.

How could you mistake our old friend Johnathon Pilger, gone from us for such a long time now -- or maybe his roomie? At the very least, they have the same postal code.

Bye-bye Teme, indeed.

Well, they're all much of a muchness, aren't they, skdadl?

If I were really mean, I'd bring this thread to a screeching halt right now by yelling

HITLER WAS A SOCIALIST

or something.

But I'd rather have a nice Lebanese lunch.

Please help yourself to the hummus, Sara. And thanks for that wonderful falafel, spatrioter.

Baklava, skdadl?

Don't mind if I do, 'lance. Ta very much.

I had the loveliest couscous yesterday. Do you know Kensington Kitchen on Harbord (they started out in the eighties on College)? I usually have the falafel plate when I'm there, but I went Moroccan yesterday.

We went to the Kensington Kitchen last time we were in Toronto, if I remember right. Nice spot.

Hoo-hah. This general "discussed history" in the same way Hitler did, by blaming everything on the Jews.

All Germans are not responsible for Hitler. Some are though, for example those who voted for him.

Probably some Jews should be ashamed for their role in Stalin's purges. They are all dead though.
