M. Spector, I know that you and I disagree on tactics in American politics, but otherwise we agree much more than not. What have I said that so mortally offended you? As far as I know I never attacked you on a personal level. I publicly apologize if in some way I hurt your feelings or made you feel insulted. That was never my intent.I'm not calling you out, just want to know if you and I could have some sort of dialogue and talk this out. There's no inherent reason we have to be enemies. I'm willing to have an agree to disagree thing with you on American politics and have you and I never debate the subject again. This thread is posted in a spirit of conciliation, so I hope it stays up. This is the first time somebody's put me on ignore and I'm hoping to learn from this. Also, in future, could a technical feature be added to Babble so that a poster would get an immediate alert when she or he was placed on ignore, along with an explanation for the placement and a chance for the poster in question to respond or apologize or whatever? It'd help. [ 04 September 2008: Message edited by: Ken Burch ] [ 04 September 2008: Message edited by: Ken Burch ] [ 04 September 2008: Message edited by: Ken Burch ]

Well, I'm not attacking the person, just trying to communicate with him.I've amended the thread title, just to be on the safe side. This thread is an attempt to heal a rift, not cause trouble. Please trust me on this. [ 04 September 2008: Message edited by: Ken Burch ]

Well, yeah, I got it that he doesn't want to communicate with me, just wondering why. It's not as though I was personally denigrating to him or anything, at least not intentionally.Mainly I just wanted to figure out what he thought I said that was "over the line". Then again, if he doesn't want to respond to this as well, I accept that as his right. [ 04 September 2008: Message edited by: Ken Burch ]

Yeah, FM don't you dare make a mockery of mockery. Some things are sacred.

Why do you regard this thread as mockery? I'm sincerely trying to figure out what I said that was so unforgiveable in Spector's eyes. It's not insecurity, and it's not baiting. And it doesn't merit the hostility and cynicism in that response.

Sorry, Ken, I wasn't refering to you. In all seriousness, Spector is Spector and he'll get over whatever it was that offended him. Don't sweat it.

I have a problem with this thread. A person can put anyone they want on their ignore list, and they don't owe anyone a reason why. It means that private communications are unwelcome, and that's it.Now a thread like this has never really come up before, and nothing in babble policy specifically speaks to it. However, if someone indicates they don't want private communications, then taking it public in the way this thread does smack of stalking and harrassment. It also is clearly about a particular babbler, who has made use of a perfectly legitimate function on babble software, and like I said, doesn't owe anyone a reason why. Ken,...May the moderators grant you the serenity to accept the things you cannot change; the courage to change the things you can; and the wisdom to know the difference. You may not be able to change this. I'm closing the thread.
