Who woulda thunk it , New York against all odds beats New England with a last minute touchdown. Final score 17-14!!

I watched it for the ads. Best one, the ETrade baby who rented the clown. Love it.

Well it was probably one of the finest Superbowl games in its history. My favourite commercial was the Budweiser one with the Cleisdales and the Dalmation take off on the Rocky teheme, brilliant!

My biggest disappointment is that the guy avoided Richard Simmons...I was hoping for a run over there.

Hey, that's great! I didn't get to watch it, got in too late. (Congratulations, josh!)

Ny did everything they had to, including knocking Brady out of his comfort zone. And NE kept trying to go downfield for big gains, instead of going first down by first down. It was impressive.

I had to leave right after the final play, so I didn't see the MVP, but it shoulda been the whole NY defensive line.

The MVP was Eli Manning. To which I say: Eli Manning?!

Or the Defensive Coordinator. They had an answer for everything other than Welker all night long.

I had no particular preference but we're quite close to -- and have an affinity for -- New England so I suppose I was leaning toward the Patriots. I also can imagine what it must be like to have won every game and then lose the big one -- what a bad feeling.

We did our usual rolly-eyed thing over the American hype and hoopla -- y'know, the pre-game reading of the Declaration of Independence, for example.

But our son (13) had a friend over and we served American cuisine instead of dinner during the game: home-prepared nachos, chicken wings, seafood with dips etc. Everyone thought that was fun.

And yes, it was an exciting game.

Same stuff it seems you can now get almost every Saturday night watching HNIC. The militarisation of Canada. I couldn't find the remote fast enough when I saw that Cherry-led drivel before the Leafs/Senators game.

He played the game of his life.

That being said, I would have given the MVP to the defensive line of the NYG. They completely shut down the Pats' offense.

Hear, hear.

But I would give it to the Giants' O-line as well. (Full disclosure: I'm a former O-linesman.)

My grandpa played and coached football for over 50 years, and he was always fond of saying that while the quarterback, the running backs and receivers score the points (and get all the attention), games are won and lost on the line. Last night's game amply demonstrated that. Brady was being harassed on virtually every play, while Manning had all the time in the world. The Pats line game was weak both ways, and it cost them the game. The Giants completely outplayed the Pats - it's a sign of how mismatched these teams were going in that it was even close at the end.
