quote: British Prime Minister Gordon Brown on Monday shared his vision of a new global society pegged to the structural revamp of international institutions of the Cold War era — the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the United Nations — as also the G-8 into dynamic entities to address the problems of the globalised world.
quote:Emphasising the need for funding environmentally sustainable development, he said: “While we strengthen the World Bank’s focus on poverty reduction, its capacity and global reach should make it also a bank for the environment — ensuring that its development programmes provide an integrated approach to both poverty eradication and climate change.”
It sounds like a polite way of saying the IMF and World Bank aren't working to reduce poverty or head off capitalist financial crises(hint-hint) the way they should.
