quote:The 40-year-old man and his boyfriend, 45, were walking through Cloudesley Square after a night out when they were beaten up.
Both men were hurt in the attack but the younger man was rushed to hospital. He was punched and knocked unconscious as his head hit the pavement. The fall left him with a fractured skull.
He has now regained consciousness after lying in a coma for at least four days.
The man is suffering from short-term memory problems and cannot remember the attack. Doctors fear his brain may be permanently damaged. ... The police officer in charge of the case Detective Inspector Neil Bradburn said: "The suspect came from a fairly large group of about a dozen people. It's just your typical group of girls and boys. The incident is probably a bit of bravado gone too far."

Boy, I am sure glad to see that since it was just a "typical group of girls and boys. The incident is probably a bit of bravado gone too far", that DI Neil Bradburn isn't going to be losing any sleep or having to pull any overtime on this case.
Whew. After all, it isn't a real crime is it, just a wee bit a'horse-play, what?

I'd like to be locked in a small room with Neil Bradburn and a chunk of lead pipe, and go "a little bit too far with some bravado" myself...
