And I wouldn't exempt purebred breeders, either. Half a million dogs and cats put down per year? Damn right it should be illegal not to spay and neuter cats and dogs when they have to kill half a million of them per year.
quote:It began as a well-intentioned idea to reduce the number of dogs and cats euthanized each year in California animal shelters – estimated at about 500,000. Requiring people to spay or neuter their pets seemed like a commonsense answer to state Assemblyman Lloyd Levine. But since his bill narrowly passed the Assembly earlier this month, it has generated a storm of impassioned criticism.

Why stop with dogs and cats? I think humans should be sterilized. Especially pet owners who don't spay or neuter.

You're about seventy years too late for that one.
Hopefully.

So how would you prevent the cat & dog population from dwindling to zero? Unless of course that is what you want.
I'm a pet lover, and I do support the spaying and neutering of pets that owners don't intend to breed. I do not support requiring the spaying and neutering of cats and dogs that are intended to be bred. I don't want cats & dogs to die out.
