There he goes again.

It just looks like "Debra." In truth, as we all know, it is rasmus_raven.

We all so long to hear what he has to say ... And sometimes we catch a note or two, only to have him Edit-Delete, and slip away ...

Of course, we all so long to hear what Debra -- the real Debra -- has to say too, except we know that she will Say It! Forthright. No Edit-Delete pussyfooting!

Och, great is our loneliness.

I think it was about hydro bills, if it's the same post. I have heard that hydro bills are through the roof, but I've been paying inclusive rent for so long that I haven't seen a hydro bill in years, so I wouldn't see the difference myself.

Little has happened to our Hydro bill ... yet ... But the fuel bills this past winter were well over TWICE what they ever were before, and for the last two years they've been jumpy.

I'm not sure that we could survive another winter in this house. Honest. There must be many like us.

Oh I had just been saying that while our cost of hydro is the same now that it is capped at 4.3, there are new charges that amount to almost forty dollars.

So we try to keep costs down by watching our usage but there are two charges for delivery, one for the delivery to them , another for the delivery to us, and there is a 12 dollar charge to pay down the now defunct ont hydro debt.

Considering that our bills used to run from 55 to 70 bucks an extra 40 makes a big difference.

There is a BRILLIANT column in today's Grope, by John Barber (almost always brilliant these days -- he has such good scandals to write about), addressing the general topic of user fees.

You want tax cuts? Fine. Now pay for this ... and this ... and that ... and so on. Gee, I hope that other people are reading John Barber. I think that he is himself a kind of Red Tory -- but boy, does he hate the Harris/Eves Tories. Even more than he hates the Lastman lobbyists. Yay.

Well, maybe nothing much will happen -- but it makes for good writing, anyway, and I'm always in favour of good writing.

I've been noticing the squeeze from every end lately.

My grocery bills are higher. Granted, I've relaxed a bit on the usual "Krusty Brand Imitation Gruel" and have been buying other things, but still, food has gone up.

Insurance is going up. Not just car, but house too.

Hydro is the other shoe waiting to be dropped right after the next election.

Then there was the gasoline hikes a while back.

And yes, the big whopper is the natural gas.

I always wanted to replace my furnace without borrowing, but it might actually pay me to do so now, at least in the short term.

Yeah...I've got a high efficiency natural gas furnace and have noticed the incredible spike in prices.

Isn't deregulation great?

Maybe soon it'll start to pay to have solar heating.

By the way have noticed that "Crappy Tire" is now selling small 15 watt solar panels for $200 that can be used for battery charging. Maybe we'll start seeing more solar products for other uses.
