And good riddance to him. His passing also noted here, but his contributions to making the world a slightly nastier place deserve their own thread.

I hope he goes straight to hell. Even though I don't believe in such a place, I know he did his part creating them for many millions of people.

At least MC Hawking was validated for his hit song "Why Won't Jesse Helms Hurry Up and Die?"

I'm reminded of what Bette Davis had to say about only speaking good of the dead.

His views were so atrocious that his "Canada hatred" is barely a speck.

Given the revelations that came out after Senator Strom Thurmond's demise I wonder what dirty little secrets will come out about Helms?

LOL. I thought Jesse Helms was already dead when I first read about this, but I guess it was Thurmond I was thinking of. I occasionally get the asshole Southern Republican senators mixed up. It's hard to keep track of the old farts. Any way, good riddance.

The only Helms revelation that could possibly top Thurmond would be if it turned out he had a black LESBIAN love child...

...in Cuba...

In his election campaigns Helms, not to subtly, would speak about the need to defeat the "block vote".

Bill Hicks on Jesse Helms

http://youtube.com/watch?v=igvJ1Mew6Go

Just be warned... he does get into some questionable territory when he's talking about Rush Limbaugh
