Was anyone else perturbed by the heavy coverage of the protesters against Chinese occupation of Tibet versus the perfunctory media coverage of the thousands protesting the Canadian extension of Afghan occupation the week earlier?

Well, to be fair, were people rioting and dying in the Canadian protests?

...to be fair, no one died in the Canadian protests against Tibetan occupation, either - but they were very well covered on CTV.

Björk got more coverage for saying "Free Tibet!" (and then flying on to her next concert gig) than the Canadian movement against the Afghan war got - and nothing died in her concert except the concept of not insulting your host.

Of course, Tibet is breaking news, while Afghanistan is old news. I suspect the coverage has more to do with that and less to do with any devious conspiracy.

I suspect that our media is more tame than Pravda under the Soviets.

Good point,
since the Liberals have begun backing Harper's anti-taliban "surge", about a year ago, there havent been any serious respect given to the anti-war arguments in pro-Liberal media.
Its like its not even up for discussion

Oh and CBC was a no show also.

We should support the (busharper) War on Tots, because we need their oil, and mr busharper knows what to do. If the tots are killed or are traumatised by injury or mentally shocked'n'awed (which they can avoid by not resisting our soldiers) then they can never claim the oil, which mr busharper knows is necessary for our comfort and ease in the future. Anyone who doesn't support the War on Tots is swimming against the current of history, and making harder the job of our fighting men, heroes risking their lives but doing a good job protecting our oil, despite the lack of appreciation by too many Canadians....

The heroes will be back to take care of those unruly Canadians in the near future. We are already under close surveilance and counter-insurgent action.
