Veteran Care Under Review as More Than 22,000 Are Discharged With 'Pre-Existing' Personality Disorder, Which Some Say Developed During War

US soldiers are being discharged under 'Pre-Existing' Personality Disorder instead of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Those who were discharged are now being told to pay back $10,000 in reenlistment bonuses and other money received. Those who were discharged say they were falsely diagnosed so that the military wouldn't have to pay for medical care and disability payments.

During and after Nam, I met a number of those who had done a tour. A significant number had trouble "getting home" and harmed themselves and sometimes others. I saw one about two years ago, and he was still a mess.

The casualties of war are not limited to the theatre.

At least here in Canada, we can now support Harper's "peacekeeping" mision in Afghanistan. More on this in another forum.

Here's another good article on the hidden effect of war on the American troops.
