Several sources have criticized Barack Obama for his alliances; some because he worked with ex-Weather Underground radical Bill Ayres, and some because he is supported by a number of relatively conservative Republicans, such as columnist David Brookes.

So, I found this article interesting:

Here's a taste:

quote:
And those who think that only the purely virtuous should be allowed to participate in public life care more about living out a grand-scale morality play than using the levers of politics to take action to build a more perfect union, or more livable city.

Davis Brook sounds like he is speaking for himself. I read his book, Blinded By The Right. He was a horrible neo-con hack, who, once he finally got smart enough, figured out that hey, maybe associating with and rallying for those who are actively trying to put me down is not in my best interests.

besides Jeff, what's you point? That we should overlook Obama's ties with big corporations? Lobby groups? Forget he figuratively threw his own pastor under a bus?

You're dreaming. He is the best candidate they have, which does not mean we need to accept everything about him uncritically.

I can hear it now. Obama wins the presidency and then all the sudden America, the fascist nation to the south of us, will become the beacon of equality. Regardless if that is as far from the truth. You do realize that this is what will happen if a black man or a woman wins right? America will be asking for forgiveness for all it's horrid abuses because hey, they elected *gasp* a woman (or black man).
