I live in Florida and am trying to find information for my 92 year old mother. My father worked for Loblaws for what seemed forever. When he died, some of his benefits continued for my mother. For example, ambulance service through Blue Cross was a continued benefit. Does anyone out there know of any telephone number or web site that I can visit to determine exactly what benefits my mother is entitled to? I have searched and searched and only find consumer related Loblaw sites. There don't appear to be any sites designed to assist employees and/or retired employees seeking retirement/pension benefit information.

I would contact Loblaw's directly at (905) 459-2500 and ask for contact information to their human resources department.

Were Loblaw employees ever represented by the UFCW, or perhaps the RWDSU? ( United Food and Commercial Workers Union or Retail, Wholesale, and Department Store Union ) If so, then someone there might be able to help you too.

I suppose you have already done this, but if not, try rummaging around in your mom's important papers. Pension details might be squirreled away somewhere.

When my dad hit the 25-year mark with Loblaws he received a letter of commendation for never having missed one day of work. He was then forced into retirement in his mid 50s and hired back part-time at less than half the hourly wage.

We still have his union jacket: UFCW Local 1000A.
