There was another sympathy strike by the dock workers, along with the teamsters:Longshore Workers shut down port in Solidarity

Here's some background info, solidarity and updates from the 7 striking UFCW Locals: www.saveourhealthcare.org

Local 1167 has been particularly good about posting updates on it's website www.ufcw1167.org

Slaveway is a cool, employee-owned anti-Safeway site that's been around for several years now. They have a message board with tons of information, rumour, discussion and debates about the strike.

In my opinion, this is one of the most important strikes in at least a generation. It is quite literally about standing up to fight the Walmartization of America. The UFCW is a union that has had a lot of trouble over the last few years. But they've been fighting incredibly hard here. They have to. They simply cannot allow this to be the Hormel strike all over again, this time in the grocery industry.
