One of the victims of government conduct in the Hurrican Katrina disaster has sued for ! quadrillion dollars.

quote:
For the sake of perspective: A mere $1 quadrillion would dwarf the U.S. gross domestic product, which Scott said was $13.2 trillion in 2007. A stack of one quadrillion pennies would reach Saturn.

At the current rate of national income, it would take the US over 225 years to generate three quadrillion dollars in national income.

So, yeah, I guess it makes perfect sense for the people of New Orleans to ask for that amount from the all the other citizens of the US.

Guess you'd better start raising taxes now!

Seriously though - I don't think anyone considers that a serious claim or that it's going to go anywhere. It's grandstanding to get headlines, which I fully support, of course. The more this is in the news, the better, and if that's what it takes, I say go for it!
