I was just watching TV and saw a commercial for some fashion doll type thingy. Fine. But their porportions made Kate Moss look healthy.

I seem to recall not too long ago people were complaining about Barbie's unrealisitic porportions (feeding the whole tiny-waist huge bust blue eyed blonde supermodel ideal)... how about these new ones which seem to be MORE out of porportion?

You don't remember the name of the doll, do you?

No, I don't remember. It wasn't too catchy, not an actual name per se, rather it was more like a description... something along the lines of "do it yourself fashion"

I'd like to have a look, if you find it, please post it.

In fact, after last night, I'd like to bury my head and think about dolls.

I don't know what doll you are talking about so can't comment... But I always thought that Barbie must have really sore calves and feet. Having to stand on your tippy toes perpetually must be painful.

Actually, her sore feet aren't surprising, considering that the original Barbie was copied from a prostitute doll designed as a "girly", pin-up type thing for adult men. Sore feet are actually a common problem among street prostitutes, according to people I know who worked at a drop-in centre in the red-light district here.

I guess it's common among any occupation where you have to be on your feet all day. Retail workers and hair dressers likely have the same problem - at least I did when I worked for 4 years at a bakery doing packaging and retail.

True, but most members of those trades don't have to strut their stuff in 4-inch heels!

Oh, of course. I wasn't thinking. Do prostitutes have to wear 4 inch heels these days?

Although I have found that certain retail jobs in "trendy" places sometimes means wearing shoes that I find incredibly uncomfortable, since there are quite a few places that don't allow you to wear runners.

Depends on the category of prostitute. I find that the very high heels and incredibly short skirts ...in Montreal winters ...brrr!!! ... are still popular in the main red light district in Montreal, which is adjacent to the main Chinatown (back to foodie concerns ) ... In the rundown neighbourhoods in the East End, a lot of the prostitutes are just dressed like any other young woman of modest means, in jeans and runners. I imagine that upscale prostitutes who are denizens of hotel bars are dressed just like any other chic and comely young lass, but I wouldn't really know.

Agree about the chic locations that not only don't allow runners but look down on comfortable dress shoes like Rockports and Hush Puppies. If you become a trial lawyer you won't be allowed to wear runners either, unless things change radically, but the "comfort" type dress shoes are ok. However they will take a big chunk out of your initial earnings, until you become a member of the firm!
