7 p.m.
At the ConCord Cafe, 937 Bloor Street West (west of Ossington)

Launch of issue 60 of NS magazine. There will be short presentations on aspects of the main theme of union's today by authors and interviewees featured in the current issue:

Herman Rosenfeld on Which Way Forward for the Union Movement: Facing
the Challenge of Neoliberalism. Herman is a member of Socialist
Project and a retired CAW staffer and labour educator.

Katherine Nastovski on International Solidarity Work in Unions.
Katherine is VP of CUPE Local 3903 and chair of the CUPE Ontario
International Solidarity committee. She is active with the labour
committee of the Campaign Against Israeli Apartheid.

Katherine G. on The Contradictions Facing Young Radicals in Union
Staff Jobs. Katherine worked for 7 months as a union organizer for
SEIU Local 1. She is currently studying to be a paramedic and hopes to
be active in her union once employed.

Yes, the last thing anyone would want would be people organizing outside of the narrow confines of what can be done within the traditional party structures, which doesn't require much more than paying dues, babbling on babble, and getting off the couch for more four hours to blindfold yourself, hum "innie minnie miny moe" and mark a "X" somewhere on the ballot.

Well, the conference has its possibilities, for sure.

But since it hasn't happened yet, there's not much to comment on.
